5 TENSES WE FREQUENTLY USE

1.      SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Used to say usual habits that happened everyday or to state general fact.
Formula:
(+) Subject + Verb1 (s/es)
(-)  Subject + do/does + not + Verb1
(?) Do/does + Subject + Verb1 ?

Used to say something that happened in the past time.
Formula:
(+) Subject + Verb2
(-)  Subject + did+ not + Verb1
(?) Did + Subject + Verb1 ?

3.       PRESENT/PAST CONTINOUS TENSE
Used to tell an action that happing either it was past or it happened at present time.
Formula :
(+) Subject + be (was/were) + V- ing
(-)  Subject + be ( was/were) + not + V-ing
(?) Be (was/were) + Subject + V-ing?

4.       SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE
Is to predict or to state an action that might happened in the future, plan or an action that is not happening yet.
Formula :
(+) Subject + will + Verb1
(-)  Subject + will + not + Verb1
(?) Will + Subject + Verb1?

5.       PRESENT PERFECT TENSE
Is to say something that already happened in past which the effect of the event still leave an impression to the speaker.
Formula :
(+) Subject + has/have + Verb3
(-)  Subject + has/have + not + Verb3
(?)  Has/have + Subject + Verb3?



1.      She (drink) coffee. (S. Past)
·         (+) She drank coffee.
·         (-)  She didn’t drink coffee.
·         (?)  Did She drink coffee?.

2.     They (start) the course. (Pre. Perfect)
·         (+) They have started the course
·         (-)  They haven’t started the course
·         (?)  Have they started the course?

3.     Ana and Linda (open) the account. (Past Continous)
·         (+) Ana and Linda was opening the account.
·         (-)  Ana and Linda was not opening the account.
·         (?) Was Ana and Linda opening the account?

4.    The bank (close) at 5 pm. (S. Present)
·         (+) The bank closes 5 pm.
·         (-)  The bank doesn’t close at 5 pm.
·         (?) Does the bank close at 5 pm?

5.     The dog (run) thourgh the park (S.Past)
·         (+) The dog ran thourgh the park.
·         (-)  The dog didn’t run thourgh the park.
·         (?) Did the dog run thourgh the park?
